I found a temporary solution to this crashing problem when escorting in Ziwu. It's pretty simple, do not get out of range of the things you escort or it will crash you back to desktop. For those who don't quite get it, before this crashing problem if you went out of range of the escorts, you get this 60 second warning timer to get back in range or you loose the escort.

As a tip, I highly advise people NOT to escort the bull and Wu Informational officer (horseman) at same time. Bull is slowest moving while horseman is fastest moving of all escorts. Those two will easily cause you to get out of range causing you to crash. I know some people avoid picking those 2 up anyways since they take longer than other escorts. Anyways, hope this information helps everyone out so they don't hesitate to escort again when they need the merit certificates.
