Ok, this is really for a bug section because I do think this wasn't something intended to happen.
A long time ago I discovered that the game actually offered 4 possibilities not only 3, you can either join any one of the three factions or you could decide never to join one.
Now obviously, I do think that this was intentional, some programmer somewhere decided this was a possible course and thus create this door for people to step into.
The problem is, they are downfalls to non-aligned (beside the obvious ones), is that you can only go so far in the Ranking system, that is the Civil or Army ranking which permits further growth the higher ranking you become.
As such, I am level 75, never been in a clan, a legion or a faction but I can -never- go beyond Civil Rank VII because Civil Rank VI requires me to have chosen a side and this is the same for Army Rank.
Now this is mostly addressed to the patchers of the game, the coders to make them reflect. Either you let people grow in a non-aligned future or stop people from being non-aligned but you cannot have it both ways, in such you give people the possibility to be non-aligned but cut their growth.
There is no reason why non-aligned people shouldn't have the exact same growth possibilities as aligned people. I work just as hard even way harder than anyone aligned person in this game to gain my Talent, to gain my Virtue (which is becoming almost impossible to harvest). I would simply ask that you remove ALL requirements on the ranking system for having chosen a side and you tweak farming of virtue/valor so that non-aligned people can gain it as much as aligned people.
Since most people tend to group up, this would have little to no impact at all on the entire game, very few people are loners like me but those that are like me don't see why we are unable to gain this extra defense, extra skills that comes with Ranking growth.
As I said this should really go into a bug section since I do believe it's a simple game ommission and I won't really debate anything at all here as I know there's a high chance for this to become nothing else but a vessel for flame wars.
I know nothing will probably change but if nothing is said.. nothing is ever expected.
